The Heartbeat of CASA Gambia’s Mission
At CASA Gambia, community development is more than a project—it is a movement. Since 2015, our organisation has been driven by a simple but powerful belief: when communities are empowered, they can transform their own futures. This belief was born from the vision of young Gambians who recognised the opportunities they had been given—education, entrepreneurship, international exposure—and chose to reinvest their skills and time into the country they love.
Today, CASA Gambia stands as a vibrant, cross-continental network of volunteers and supporters. We are registered as an NGO in The Gambia and as a charity in The Netherlands, with ambassadors in the UK, Germany, and the USA. Together, we work with community organisations, village development committees, schools, and libraries to strengthen education, improve livelihoods, and advance equality for women and girls.
But none of this happens without active volunteers.
Why Active Volunteers Matter More Than Ever

Volunteers are the backbone of CASA Gambia. They are the trainers, organisers, fundraisers, communicators, and community builders who make our mission possible. Yet, like many organisations, we face a continuous challenge: activating and retaining volunteers.
- In The Netherlands, some of our long-time volunteers are aging, and we need fresh energy to carry the torch forward.
- In The Gambia, young volunteers often move into full-time careers—something we celebrate—but it means we must constantly nurture new talent.
Despite these challenges, our commitment remains unwavering. And we know there are people—perhaps you—who are ready to step forward.
A Unique Opportunity to Create Impact
Volunteering with CASA Gambia is not passive. It is hands-on, meaningful, and deeply connected to real community needs. Our volunteers work on initiatives that strengthen education, empower women and girls, and support grassroots organisations to grow stronger and more sustainable.
Through our long-term partnership with Wilde Ganzen, we also play a national role in supporting CBOs, CSOs, and NGOs across The Gambia. This includes:
- Capacity building through training and coaching
- Peer learning events that bring community organisations together
- Fundraising support and organisational development
- International collaboration with partners such as Wilde Ganzen, Change the Game Academy, Book Aid International, and Giving Tuesday
When you volunteer with CASA Gambia, you become part of a network that is shaping the future of community development in the country.
Grow While You Give
Volunteering with CASA Gambia is not only about giving back—it’s about growing forward.
Active volunteers have the opportunity to:
- Become certified trainers through the Change the Game Academy
- Develop leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Work alongside national and international development partners
- Join board members for international training opportunities
- Build a professional network across Africa and Europe
Whether you are in The Gambia, The Netherlands, or anywhere else in the world, your skills and passion can make a tangible difference.
